I’m in your osmoplex, designing your tiddlyspaces

We’ve spent the day hacking (though mostly gearing up to hack) on tiddlyhoster (http://hoster.peermore.com) and @jermolene’s talking about the concept of spaces as a higher level abstraction than recipes.

The idea would be you want to spin off a new tiddlydocs, you clone a tiddlydocs space.

Discussing the model and implications.

Is there any information about spaces _written down_ anywhere? Until that happens it seems a bit vague and unreal. My intuitive reaction to spaces is that they are a jury rigged concept put in place because recipes and bags are not well understood. That could be completely wrong, but until something is written down, I have nothing with which to correct my intuition.

Chris, sorry the post was brief. The name only came up yesterday in a design meeting. The general concept of spaces (or what I previously called rooms) is actually something where I’ve come round to your view that "recipe" may well be enough, and that introducing a new concept has to be done cautiously and justified against an occam’s razor test. The "space" concept is Jeremy’s idea, we discussed it a bit in the meeting yesterday and intend to cover it in more detail next Wednesday. I was happy to go with the flow and see where the concept leads, but I’m still not sure it’s necessary. It’s limited just to an envisioned Osmosoft product which will either be an evolution of TiddlyHoster or a similar sort of product.

I posted a summary of the day, including this discussion on the TiddlyWeb list: http://groups.google.com/group/tiddlyweb/browse_thread/thread/7938a03f51e92902
